What Is New in iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max?

Apple has focused on four areas: the camera, sustained speed, battery life and AI. The 48MP Fusion Main camera now has a variable aperture, the A20 Pro chip is paired with a much larger vapour chamber, and the Dynamic Island is smaller. A new Burgundy finish joins Black, Silver and Glacier. The eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro is rated for up to 36 hours of video playback and the Pro Max for up to 45 hours. Siri AI arrives with iOS 27 as a beta that starts in English.

48MP Fusion Main Camera with Variable Aperture

Think of aperture as a dial that trades light for depth. A wide opening lets in more light for dim rooms, while a narrow one keeps subjects at different distances sharp. The Main camera moves between four settings – ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0 – automatically, or you can pick one yourself.

Pro controls put aperture, shutter speed and white balance inside the Camera app, with a histogram for checking exposure. Photographic Styles also gains texture and grain adjustments, so you can soften skin tones or add a film-like look and still reverse it later.

For video, Cinematic effects can be added after you have recorded a clip, and time-lapse now records in 4K Dolby Vision HDR. If you often shoot indoors, at night or at family gatherings, this is the upgrade most worth weighing.

Triple 48MP Rear Cameras and 8x Optical-Quality Zoom

All three rear cameras are 48MP: the Main (24mm), the Ultra Wide (13mm, ƒ/2.2, with macro) and the Telephoto (100mm, ƒ/2.8). The telephoto camera also provides a 200mm, 8x optical-quality option at 12MP, and Apple lists digital zoom up to 40x. The 8x setting is described as optical-quality rather than a separate 8x lens.

A20 Pro Chip and Next-Generation Vapour Chamber

A20 Pro is built on a 2-nanometre process with a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple places the chip next to its memory rather than on top of it, and the vapour chamber has three times the surface area of the one in the iPhone 17 Pro.

The practical gain is staying fast for longer. Apple claims up to 40% better sustained performance and up to 40% faster graphics than the iPhone 17 Pro, which matters most in long gaming sessions, video editing and on-device AI tasks. These are Apple’s figures, and results vary by app and conditions.

Longer Rated Battery Life

With eSIM-only models, Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro for up to 36 hours of video playback and the iPhone 18 Pro Max for up to 45 hours. Apple’s typical-use ratings are up to 24 hours for the Pro and up to 30 hours for the Pro Max.

Charging is quicker as well. Apple quotes up to 50% in around 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter that supports Adjustable Voltage Supply and a suitable USB-C cable, and up to 7 hours of video playback from five minutes of wired charging on the Pro Max. Apple does not include a power adapter in the box, so check the wattage of the adapter you plan to use if fast charging matters to you.

Redesigned Dynamic Island

The smaller Dynamic Island can show up to three Live Activities at once, such as navigation, a sports score and music, so more information stays in view without opening apps. Face ID stays built in.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI with iOS 27

iOS 27 introduces Siri AI, a rebuilt Siri that can draw on your messages, emails and photos, act on what is on your screen and answer open-ended questions. Apple Intelligence also adds photo tools such as Spatial Reframing, Extend and an improved Clean Up.

Siri AI is a beta and starts in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish listed for October. Apple’s Apple Intelligence language list does not currently include Arabic, although iOS itself is available in Arabic, so Arabic-language users should confirm which features they can use before buying. Some server-based AI features also have daily usage limits.

iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 18 Pro Max: What’s the Difference?

The choice comes down to size, weight and battery. The chip, rear camera system, storage sizes and colours are the same on both, so going smaller does not mean giving up performance.

Specification	iPhone 18 Pro	iPhone 18 Pro Max
Starting price in UAE	AED 5,099	AED 5,499

SIM	Dual eSIM, no physical SIM	Dual eSIM, no physical SIM

Screen sizes are diagonal measurements to the rounded corners; Apple measures the viewable area at 6.27 and 6.86 inches. Battery figures are Apple’s ratings for eSIM-only models.

Pick the iPhone 18 Pro if one-handed use matters

At 211g and 150mm tall, the Pro is the easier phone to pocket and operate with one hand, and it keeps the same A20 Pro chip and the same three 48MP rear cameras as the larger model.

Pick the iPhone 18 Pro Max if battery and screen size come first

The 6.9-inch display suits gaming, video, reading and photo editing, and the Pro Max carries the longer ratings of up to 45 hours of video playback and up to 30 hours of typical use. In return you carry a heavier 249g phone that is less pocket-friendly.

How Much Storage Do You Need on iPhone 18 Pro?

Storage	Best for
256GB	Everyday apps, messaging and photos, with iCloud or a computer handling backups
512GB	Large photo libraries, big games and films or music kept on the phone
1TB	Frequent 4K video recording and large local media collections
2TB	Creators who carry very large project files and footage on the phone

Moving from 256GB to 512GB adds AED 850 on either model, so check how much space your current phone uses in Settings before you decide.

Free space varies with the software version, settings and the apps you install.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max New Colours

Both models come in Black, Silver, Glacier and the new Burgundy, with colour-matched back glass. Colour availability can differ by storage size and stock, so select your configuration on the product page to see what is available right now.

Both phones use an aluminium unibody with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back, and are rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.

Is It Worth Upgrading to iPhone 18 Pro?

How much you gain depends on the phone you carry now. Apple’s compare tool puts numbers on the jump from recent Pro models:

Upgrading from	CPU and GPU	Pro Max rated video playback
iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max	Up to 20% faster CPU, up to 40% faster GPU	Up to 6 more hours
iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max	Up to 30% faster CPU, up to 80% faster GPU	Up to 12 more hours
iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max	Up to 50% faster CPU, up to 2.1x faster GPU	Up to 16 more hours

From the 17 Pro generation, the upgrade is mainly the variable-aperture camera, longer battery ratings and faster charging. If those are not priorities, your current phone may still do the job. From a 15 Pro or older, the gains are broader. Trade in your old phone with Jumbo to reduce the cost, and compare 256GB and 512GB pricing before checkout. If you would rather stay a generation back, Jumbo also stocks the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
